the project

More Than an Accommodation Website

Vanuatu Island needed to evolve from a traditional accommodation website into a broader digital platform for visitors to Aore Island.

DD Digital developed a website that brings together accommodation, island tours, transfers, destination information and eCommerce in one connected experience.

Visitors can discover where to stay and what to experience, while the online store extends the Aore Island experience through locally grown plantation produce, traditional bush foods and locally made island products.

The project also extends beyond attracting visitors. A dedicated digital guest guide provides practical information to guests once they're actually on the island.

The Challenge

Aore Island offers a very different experience from a conventional resort holiday — and the website needed to communicate that difference. Visitors need to understand where Aore Island is, how they get there, where they can stay and what they can do. Transport is particularly important because Aore is reached by boat from the Espiritu Santo/Luganville side of the channel. Once guests arrive, there is another challenge. Island living involves things visitors may not encounter at a normal hotel: solar power, water management, satellite internet, boat transport, tropical wildlife, ocean conditions and local customs. Important information needed to be available without relying on a traditional printed guest compendium.

What We Did

DD Digital rebuilt Vanuatu Island through Motifo using Duda, structuring the platform around the complete visitor journey.

The public website brings together accommodation, island experiences, transfers, destination information and eCommerce, giving visitors a single place to discover Aore Island and engage with the businesses and experiences behind it.

An integrated online store extends the platform beyond tourism, providing a digital marketplace for plantation produce, Vanuatu bush foods and locally made Aore Island products.

We then extended the platform into the guest experience itself with a dedicated digital in-room guest guide covering the house, internet, transport, swimming and ocean safety, wildlife, weather, food and shopping, gardens, fishing, emergency information and everyday island life.

One Platform for the Entire Guest Journey

The result is a digital platform that supports visitors at multiple stages of their Aore Island experience. Before travelling, guests can discover accommodation, understand how to reach the island, explore tours and experiences, shop for locally grown and made products, and learn more about Aore and Espiritu Santo. Once on the island, the same digital ecosystem becomes a practical resource for navigating everyday island life through the dedicated digital guest guide. The platform can continue expanding as additional accommodation, tours, experiences, products and destination information are introduced. The current site already brings together multiple accommodation types, tours, transfers, eCommerce and an expanding destination-content library within one connected platform.
