More Than an Online Store

The Party Hut is a long-established Toowoomba retailer offering an extensive range of party supplies, costumes, balloons, cake decorating products and party equipment both in-store and online. The business has operated under the same ownership since 2000.

With more than 8,600 products currently represented online, managing the eCommerce catalogue involves considerably more than maintaining a conventional Shopify store.

DD Digital developed a Shopify solution that connects the online store with other systems involved in running the business, including supplier inventory data and Party Hut's internal ERP platform.

The result is a website that operates as part of a broader business system rather than as a standalone online store.

The Challenge

For a retailer with thousands of products, maintaining accurate product and inventory information manually would create an enormous administrative workload. Party Hut needed its Shopify store to work alongside two other sources of business-critical information: inventory information coming from a supplier's inventory management system and Party Hut's own ERP system. The challenge was therefore not simply building an eCommerce website. It was creating reliable connections between independent systems so information could move through the business without requiring the same data to be repeatedly maintained by staff.

What We Did

DD Digital developed and manages the Shopify environment together with two separate system integrations.

Supplier Inventory System → Shopify → Party Hut ERP

The supplier integration allows relevant inventory information to flow into Shopify, while the ERP integration connects the online store with Party Hut's internal business management system.

This creates a connected workflow where Shopify becomes part of Party Hut's wider operational infrastructure rather than an isolated sales channel.

One Store. Multiple Systems. Working Together.

Party Hut now has an eCommerce platform capable of supporting a substantial and diverse product catalogue while exchanging information with the external systems used to manage the business. Automation reduces the amount of information that needs to be manually maintained across separate platforms and helps Shopify operate as part of the company's broader retail and inventory workflow. For a business selling online as well as through its physical Toowoomba store, the integration provides a much more scalable foundation for managing a large catalogue and the systems behind it. With Party Hut operating both a physical retail store and a substantial online catalogue, the integration creates a stronger connection between its digital and day-to-day retail operations.
